Happy weekend friends! So I thought I’d share a few pictures of my latest creations...inspired by Somerset Life’s challenge to create a little something with a handkerchief. I happen to own just a few vintage hankies...one in particular has always been my very favorite. When I first discovered it tucked inside a tattered and torn vintage envelope I instantly fell in love with its delicately embroidered edges in the prettiest shades of lavender.
Initially, I hesitated in cutting such a beautiful piece of history...but alas I couldn't resist the possibility of transforming it into something even more lovely, and believe it or not I managed to create 3 pieces from this one hankie! So, how about a peek at the pretties that made their way into my imagination….

So, how about a peek at the pretties that made their way into my imagination….
the first is a simple and elegant Victorian inspired fan with the front side featuring the hankie
and the back layered with the most beautiful pattern paper
I added bits of vintage rhinestones and pearls for a sweet finishing touch.
The second is a petite tussie mussie made with vintage sheet music and trimmings.
I loved it just as is...so I opted to forgo the usual handle, fillings, and such.
I must admit I do love this little trio...I hope you’ll agree cutting this hankie wasn't such a terrible idea after all:)
Have a great weekend!
xo,
Abby

All three are lovely! The fan is my favorite, though. Not sure I'd have been brave enough to cut into the hankie, but it was def. the right thing to do!

Abby, your fan is truly beautiful, and so are the tussie mussie,-so lovely with the smal piece of handkerchief, you used on the rim of it.
And I love the pocket to hide away something sweet, it is so wonderful.

Ah, the lovely delicate hankie has found new life in your creations. That lavender is so pretty and what a perfect match with that paper. Well done Abby!

They couldn't be any prettier. That paper you chose is perfect with that hanky.

Hi Abby, just popping by to catch up with you. You are too talented by far and so brave to cut into this gorgeous hankerchief but I am so glad you did. These creations are so beautiful, how you have folded and displayed the gorgeous purple thread of the hankerchief is perfect. Love all the added pearls, lace and vintage trinkets, a perfect Abby creation, take careX:)
Oh be still my heart!! Abby!! These are beyond priceless!! I am so thrilled that you cut into your hankie!! That fan is to die for... beautiful!! I have a big box of hankies from my great aunt, I've been known to cut into them for angel dresses and wings... I like being able to give something special to each of my sisters and my Mom made from part of our family treasures!! A fan is a fabulous idea!!! Hope your holidays will be as wonderful as you are!!
Hugs,
Teri
