make it pretty

Hello dear friends, hope you're weekend turned out to be amazing!
Forgive my lack of posting and visiting....I've had to work lots of overtime lately....
but I do hope to catch up a bit tonight:)

Now, I don't know about you but I LOVE any opportunity to elevate the presentation of a gift....
especially those that are humble in value.
Often times I'll search for pretties already in my home to wrap a gift...
instead of wrapping paper I'll reach for pretty fabric....
instead of tape a lovely ribbon to hold it closed...
and instead of a store bought card a doily
with a short and sweet message may join in instead....
though I prefer vintage fabrics they are difficult to find and at times quite expensive.
so a favorite back-up is discontinued fabric samples from Joann Fabrics....
at $2 each they are perfectly priced to wrap a petite little something without breaking the bank.
I wrapped a necklace for a dear friend's birthday this past week
so I thought I'd share a sampling of just how quick and easy it is....
with the necklace in hand I searched through my stash for a sample...
one that would compliment the colors of the pearls just right.
for an extra layer of love I first wrapped it in pretty vintage dress pattern tissue paper...
cut with scalloped edge scissors for an extra touch of loveliness...
then as if wrapping a treasured trinket I carefully folded the fabric just so....
no need for tape to keep it closed....
with a satin ribbon tied in a bow
the final touch....
a few sprigs of dried lavendar and a doily with a sweet and simple birthday wish.
A beautiful and inexpensive way to make it pretty!

I'd love to know how you too have discovered ways to "make it pretty"....do share please:)

xo,

Abby

Lovely gift and wrappings~ I am sure the recipient was thrilled! I like to use cloth, paper, sometimes wax paper to make it unique.

Oh my goodness--who would not LOVE to receive such a thoughtful and beautiful gift? I am definitely going to have to use some of my fabric for wrapping--had never thought of it! My go-to wrapping is kraft paper with bright turquoise or hot pink tulle and some kind of bling! :)
